Paris Saint-Germain Defeats Marseille in a Shootout to Secure Trophee des Champions Super Cup in the Middle East.

Trophy celebration scene

The Parisian club has now won the prestigious cup on 14 different occasions.

The Parisian giants needed a stoppage-time equaliser followed by a perfect penalty shootout to overcome their arch-rivals in the Gulf and secure a record-extending fourth consecutive French Super Cup victory.

The European champions appeared to be coasting towards a comfortable win in the match between the French league champions and the Coupe de France holders after Ousmane Dembele found the scoring early on.

Yet, the southern French side struck two times late to seize a surprise advantage. First, the English forward scored from the penalty spot, before the defender unfortunately directed the ball into his own net for an own-goal.

In a breathtaking twist of fortune, Goncalo Ramos grabbed a crucial leveler in the dying seconds to force the match into a deciding shootout. PSG goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier then emerged as the hero, stopping crucial attempts from Matt O'Riley and Traore.

In the shootout, Ramos, the midfielder, Nuno Mendes, and Desire Doue all scored with composure for Paris Saint-Germain to complete a 4-1 shootout victory.

Now 14-time champions Paris Saint-Germain, who met last season's Ligue 1 runners-up Marseille after achieving a domestic double, have now lifted this trophy for the 12th time in the past 13 seasons.
